Saying Goodbye

Rarely in this life do we get the privilege to know it's the last time we will see a friend, but sometimes- we do.

I was gifted the opportunity to say goodbye this morning to an old friend.

Her and I rode the ranch together, a decade ago.

She was a sleak black beauty of a horse then, and I still see her that way in front of me.

I told her so.

Even though her rippling muscles have shrunken, and her skin is stretched over the points of her body. Her cheeks are hollow with age.

I still see that lithe, attentive, energetic mare who never gave up and always had more.

Her style would be to gallop straight in, right through the gates of heaven.

I hope God looks at her and says, "Damn, girl. Nice shoes!"

I love you Party Girl.

Party on
