Emergency Sheep Rescue
New Resident at the ranch
This little lady belongs to a community member in my rural area, she lost the rest of her herd yesterday in a tragic dog attack.
She was the lone survivor of the attack. (1st photo taken right after the incident)
I saw the owners post about the dog attack on a community Facebook page, and I reached out to them without hesitation.
I offered the ewe to come and join my herd until the situation is resolved.
(It is incredibly stressful for a Sheep to be alone.)
She will be here on the property, recovering from her injuries and she is being medicated/doctored daily. She is incredibly sweet.
I'm happy to give her a soft place to land
This is her resting in a nice fluffy, dry stall after she arrived, still a little drowsy from the sedation and vet visit. She had to have one gash stitched up, and has several other puncture wounds on her face to heal from.
She will be safe and loved here, in a nice herd until she can return to her family with new herd mates.
I'm told the loose dogs have been caught, and contact with the dogs owner has been established.
UPDATE: The owner contacted me and asked if I would permanently adopt the ewe. She is here to stay!
